Medical Uses of Marijuana

Medical Marijuana will be referring to the use of cannabinoids present in the plant that is used for treating disease and improving symptoms. It is important to note that a detailed study of Marijuana has been stopped by many of the countries’ governments because it is an illegal drug. There is very little evidence that Cannabis (Marijuana) can be used for treating the following health issues:

  • Vomiting and nausea during the process of chemotherapy.
  • Improving appetite in people who have HIV/AIDS or for the treatment of chronic pain and muscle spasms.

Recreational Use of Marijuana

As discussed before, Marijuana also has psychoactive and physiological effects after being consumed. Some of the instant effects after consuming Marijuana include euphoria and relaxation, along with the alteration of conscious perception. Furthermore, a person might feel an increased awareness of sensation, a problem in perception of time and space, and increased libido.

A high dose of Marijuana can also change the body image, visual or auditory illusions, ataxia, and pseudo hallucinations. Moreover, in some cases, Cannabis also leads to dissociative states that include derealization and depersonalization.

If a person is continuously and heavily using Cannabis, this relationship will be inconsistent and weak compared to tobacco and other addictive substances.

Spiritual Uses of Marijuana

Marijuana is also holding sacred status in different religions. It has been served as the entheogen, a chemical substance that is used for shamanic, religious, and spiritual contexts. It is interesting to note that in the Indian Subcontinent, marijuana use has roots during the Vedic period that links back to 1500 BCE or as far as 200 BCE.

In addition to this, there are many references in Greek mythology that tell us about a powerful drug that is going to eliminate sorrow and anguish. In the modern culture, the spiritual use of Cannabis is spread by the disciples of the Rastafari movement, who have been using Cannabis as a sacrament and for medical purposes. One of the ancient links of Marijuana being used for the spiritual purpose links to the Atharva Veda, which is estimated to be composed during 1400 BCE.

5 Different Available Forms of Marijuana

Marijuana is being consumed in different ways. All of the ways include the heating of decarboxylating THCA present within the plant into the THC. The five different forms of Marijuana are as follows:

Smoking: This mostly involves the burning and inhaling the vaporized cannabinoids via bongs, small pipe, and hookahs that contain water chamber, tobacco leaf, paper-wrapped joints, wrapped blunts, and many other items.

Vaporizer: In this, the Marijuana is heated to 165 to 190 °C (329–374 °F). This will cause the active ingredients to evaporate into the vapor without burning the plant material. For your information, the boiling point of THC is 157 °C (315 °F) at atmospheric pressure).

Edibles: This is when Cannabis is added within the ingredient in one of the varieties of foods that include baked goods and butter. For your information, Marijuana is widely and commonly used in beverages, bhang.

Cannabis Tea: This contains a small THC concentration because THC is on oil, and it is less soluble in water. The solubility of Marijuana is 2.8 mg per liter. The cannabis tea is made by adding saturated fat to hot water—for instance, cream or any mild without the skim with a very little amount of Cannabis.

Capsules: This is typically having cannabis oil and different other dietary supplement product. From the long list of products, 220 were approved within Canada in 2018.

Preparation of Marijuana

Total five things included preparing dried flower buds (Marijuana), hashish, a gram of kief, hash oil, and infusion (dairy butter).

Marijuana: Marihuana or Marijuana comprises dried flowers and fruits and the subtending leaves and stems of the female cannabis plant. It is important to note that this is the most widely consumed form that contains 3 to 20% THC with a report of 33% THC. This acts as the stock material through which all other preparations are done. Note that the herbal Cannabis and Industrial Hemp will be derived from a similar species, and it will contain the psychoactive compound THC. Remember that these are the distinct stains that come with unique biochemical compositions and use.

Note that the Hemp has a low THC concentration and comes with a high concentration of CBD that provides less psychoactive effects.

Kief: It is a powder that is rich in trichomes. This can be taken from the leaves, fruits, and flowers of cannabis plants and can be consumed in powder form or compressed to produce hashish cakes. Note that the word “kif” is derived from the Arabic language with a meaning of pleasure.

Hash Oil: It is one of the resinous metrics of cannabinoids that are derived from the Cannabis plant via solvent extraction. It later forms a hard viscous mass. Note that hash oil will be the most potent of main cannabis products due to its high level of psychoactive compound per its volume that is dependent on the plant’s mixture of psychoactive compounds and essential oils.

Hashish: It is also called hashish, hasheesh, or hash. It is a concentrated resin cake or ball that is produced from pressed kief, the independent trichomes, and fine materials that will fall as cannabis fruit, leaves, and flowers. You can also get them by scraping the resin from the plant’s surface and rolling it into the balls. It will be different in a color that ranges from black to golden brown depending on the purity and variety of cultivator that is being obtained. This can be consumed orally or smoked, and it is also vaporized or vaped. The term “rosin hash” will be referring to a high-quality solventless product that coming through pressure and heat.
